Alcatel on Monday has launched the One Touch Flash (6042D) phablet in Thailand, where it is being marketed as a competitor to the similarly-specced affordable Samsung phablet, the Galaxy Note 3 Neo.
Recently the company launched five new smartphones in the One Touch Idol series for the Indian market - the Alcatel One Touch Hero, One Touch Idol X, One Touch Idol Mini, One Touch Idol 2, and One Touch Idol 2 Mini. These smartphones have display sizes ranging from 4.3-inches to 5-inches, and have narrow bezels. All the devices will be available in single-SIM and dual-SIM variants.
The launch of the smartphone was covered by a Thai website, which notesAlcatel hasn't yet announced pricing details of the smartphone, and is expected to do so along with availability details on September 8.
The single-SIM Alcatel One Touch Flash (6042D) runs Android 4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box and features a 5.5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 720x1280 pixels. The smartphone packs an octa-core 1.4GHz MediaTek MTK6592M processor coupled with 1GB of RAM.
It boasts of a 13-megapixel autofocus rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The 8GB internal storage on One Touch Flash can be expanded up to 32GB (via MicroSD card).
Connectivity options on the Alcatel One Touch Flash include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPRS/ EDGE, GPS and 3G. The battery on the device is 3200mAh.
Alcatel has released the video (see below) touting One Touch Flash to be a Samsung Galaxy Note killer. The video shows One Touch Flash as an Android robot that fights an evil-looking Note and wins at the end because of its superior specifications. The video also details the Hotknot sharing feature.
